Moonlight Dancing: Fine Art Poster
Two things can be true at once.
Moonlight Dancing borrows its title from the well-known song “Dancing in the Moonlight.” The story behind that song stuck with me. It sounds carefree and romantic, but it was written as an imagined alternate reality after the songwriter went through something traumatic.
This painting feels like a little window into an alternate reality too.
White rabbits run all through it, for new beginnings, curiosity, adventure and abundance. There’s also a lot of red, because I was thinking about anger, and how hard it can be to let things go.
What I love most is that it lets two things be true at once. You can be excited about your future and still be angry about your past. You can know you made a good decision and still feel sad about what it cost.
Those things don’t cancel each other out. Sometimes we can just make room for both.
And honestly, it’s weird and whimsical and it makes me happy when I look at it. I’ve decided that’s a good enough reason too.
A reminder for your wall
For anyone starting over, or anyone learning that you don’t have to resolve everything to keep moving forward. It also makes a meaningful gift for a friend in a new chapter.
